Mordor and Marines

Time for some update on my project. Both are again commission related. Firstly the end of previous one with the Mordor force. Since I've already posted some pics of Morgul Knights I'll just skip to rest of company

Some Command with Witch-King, Morgul's Banner and musician

The Tainted and Castellans

Dark Marshall and The Undying

Another one that comes around. Test Marine for Ultramarines Army that can be commissioned to me. Client saw Terminators I painted and decided that he really like the scheme.

And for the music corner...I selected some piece that should wrap up "Black part" of my commissions, plus it fits Space Marines theme with all that sci-fi ;)

So here's the latest addition to my hobby corner.

I've been looking for something like this for a longer while. The first place to start was of course IKEA. They had a few similar glass cases but they were much larger and much heavier. I wanted something smaller that I could add into my rather confined space. I finally found this one at allegro.pl (something like Polish ebay). Quick measurement proved that the size was perfect.

So, here it is. I've already put all my Cryx minis inside. Seems pretty empty at the moment but it will be full when I receive a large batch of minis for the next commission.

Meanwhile, I started working on a unit of Bane Knights. I've already painted one (you can check it out here) to try out a color scheme. Now I'll be working on four more grunts + the leader.

I really like the sculpts. They are made up of so many parts that it's fairly easy to make sure that each one has a distinctly different pose. I still have four more and Tartarus that I will be painting later on.

It takes a while to prepare them as I pin the arms to the torso and then use Green Stuff to strengthen the link. It just seems that their arms are so thin that they need a little more strengthening.

Well, that's it for the time being. Just to keep up with the tradition of ending a post with a song, here's a (completely unrelated content wise) a pretty cool parody I've come across recently.

Welcome to the Jungle

It felt a bit weird to be painting after a longer break. Working on these guys took much longer than I had expected. I generally like minis of Catachan jungle fighters and these two are no exception.

I like the sculpts, details abound and the quality is overall quite high (well, apart from details on the face, especially eyes that are simply not there...). Anyway, I had fun painting Colonel 'Iron Hand' Straken and Gunnery Sergeant Harker. The quality of the pictures is poor as it's dark, cloudy and rainy today and I had to take these pictures before sending the minis to the commissioner.

Meanwhile, I finally got a very nice cabinet, which I will use to show case my minis and store those that await painting. I will add it to my workspace this weekend and show some pics once it's ready.

And to finish off this entry, here's a classic from the title;

Hey there,

Once again I'm unwinding my skills in painting black. Man I'm beginnig to develop sort of character noir thing :) Anyway I really hit off with latest commission and it's safe to say I'm more than halfway done.

Right now parts that are almost finished are : Castellans x3, Dark Marshall x1, as usual they still wait for some washes and dust plus varnishing but I guess you're used to it by now ;)

Other part i.e Morgul Knights, still need some glazes and washes over black parts, but they're mostly done I guess maybe some highlights will be added I haven't decided yet. Also their metallics seem quite nice to me, but it's up to commissioner to decide on that matter ;)

On the end note I can't help myself with some creative finish, so here's tune that will best express what's the main thought of this entry ;)

Happily ever after

Long time no see... Well, during the last couple of weeks I've been probably the busiest but at the same time the happiest guy around.
First off, I was working on my thesis, defended it and moved back to my hometown. There I worked on the renovation of the flat for me and my fiancée, whom I married a little later.

All of that, all the work involved in the preparation took a lot of time and much effort so we were more than happy when we left for two weeks of our honeymoon.
So, instead of converting and painting minis I've been busy painting and preparing things like these.
I've also managed to prepare a new workspace. I didn't have too much space so I wanted to make sure I use all that was available to me efficiently. I ended up creating this:

As you can see, there's still a lot of space left. I figured I should leave some for the paints I plan to buy in the future (including the whole Reaper master series range). I'm still looking for a relatively small glass-case that could be used for keeping minis in order. But this will have to wait.

So that's it. Been there, done that and returned a happier and more complete man. Now, before I become more sentimental than necessary I guess I'll finish off this small update. Next time some minis will be involved. Until then, take care.

One down, another one to go

I've just finished first of commissions I mentioned in previous entry. Fresh pictures of happy family based, dusted and varnished. Mordor's bases are just plain due to client's request.

And a little peak of what's going to be on the agenda for next week probably ;)

Links & Commissions

A bit commercial beginning of this post, I hope you'll forgive me.

I'll start with links from CMON for Ultramarines Terminators you've seen :

Next is the link to my eBay auctions where you can find them : eBay auctions

Now, back to the painting issue. I'm now working on some commissions I recieved last week. First one consists of Grimbold's Command, Black Root Valley Archers Command, The Undying , The Betrayer, Duinhir, Faramir Ranger, Eomer Marshall of the Riddermark and Boromir CotWT.

So far after 3 days I've managed to 'finish' more then half , still they need some finishing washes, glazes, some dust plus varnishing.

Next commission that arrived today will consist of 6 plastic Morgul Knights (yet again), The Undying, The Tainted, Dark Marshall and three of Castellans of Dol Guldur. So it will be black couple of days yet again.

And finally small project that I launched myself. Boromir Captain of the White Tower mounted with Banner of Minas Tirith. Mini that has been waiting 3 years I believe to be painted. :D

Day 5: Terminators Finale

Well I've finally finished work on Terminators. Actually I've finished them a while ago and I had problems with taking pictures, I struggle with choosing right pictures for CMON so maybe you can help me with that ;) I'll post the artificial light pics with higher contrast on left and natural ones on right.

Any feedback for future reference ?
