Master of Puppets

I've been busy with painting Wyrd stuff in recent weeks and have a lot of catching up to do on the blog. I'll try to add more posts over the week so stay tuned.

Ostatnio całkiem sporo malowałem Wyrdowskich modeli i w efekcie mam duże zaległości na blogu. Postaram się dodać więcej postów w ciągu tygodnia więc czuwajcie.

I'll start with another of the newly released crew from Wyrd Miniatures - Collodi, the Master of Puppets and his little friends.
The first thing I noticed when I looked at the parts was how tiny they were (especially the Marionettes). Pinning them was extremely difficult and in one case it was actually impossible. The Marionette with crossed legs has such small feet that I ended up attaching a small piece of plastic to them and then making space for it in the base.

Zacznę od kolejnej nowości od Wyrda - Collodi, czyli Władca Marionetek i jego mali przyjaciele.
Pierwsze, co rzuca się w oczy po spojrzeniu na części to ich mały rozmiar (zwłaszcza Marionetki). Pinowanie ich było bardzo trudne, a w jednym wypadku nawet okazało się niemożliwe. Marionetka ze skrzyżowanymi nogami ma tak drobne stopy, że ostatecznie musiałem dokleić do nich od spodu mały kawałek plastiku i potem wyciąć na to otwór w podstawce.

I was a bit disappointed by the size of Wicked Dolls as they're much larger and bulkier than the Marionettes. That being said, I can only imagine how hard painting them would be if they were much smaller. The models are really well designed and they immediately made me think of a great story from the Chronicles vol.12 Painting them was w bit tricky as there are some flat surfaces on the material, combined with numerous tiny stitches, and these don't look good if they're just painted with a single color so I made an effort to add some highlights there too.

Trochę rozczarowały mnie rozmiary Wicked Dolls, ponieważ są znacznie bardziej pokaźnych rozmiarów niż Marionetki. Ale też aż ciężko sobie wyobrazić jak trudne byłoby malowanie tych modeli gdyby były dużo mniejsze. Figurki są świetnie zaprojektowane i od razu skojarzyły mi się z e świetnym opowiadaniem z 12 numeru wyrdowskich kronik. Malowanie laleczek nie było łatwe - są tam zarówno płaskie powierzchnie materiału, jak i liczne drobne szwy, a te nie wyglądają dobrze pomalowane tylko jednym kolorem, a więc postarałem się dodać na nich trochę rozjaśnień. 

Collodi looks like a proper Master. He is the biggest model in the box and deservedly so. He's come a long way since beine a "mere" henchman in previous edition. I really like the way his four arms are positioned, as if he was happily pulling the strings and playing with his puppets. This is such an improvement comparing to the old metal version although his clothes could have a few more folds - painting them required numerous layers of gradually brighter colors.
Collodi's henchman (or rather henchwoman) - Vasillisa, is another great model. I particularly like the hollow expression on her wooden face, it somehow makes her look even more creepy.

I tried to paint a slightly different wood effect on these two and used brighter shades than on the Marionettes. Other than that, I tried to keep the colors coherent with the rest of the crew.

Collodi wygląda jak prawdziwy Master. Jest największą figurką z boxa, i w pełni zasłużenie. Przeszedł długą drogę od bycia "miernym" henchmanem w poprzedniej edycji. Bardzo podoba mi się układ jego czterech ramion, wygląda jakby radośnie pociągał za sznurki i bawił się swoimi Marionetkami. To naprawdę ogromny postęp w porównaniu ze starą wersją modelu tej postaci, aczkolwiek jego szaty mogłyby mieć trochę więcej fałd - musiałem nałożyć mnóstwo warstw stopniowo rozjaśnianego kolory żeby uzyskać efekt głębi.

Henchman (a właściwie Henchmenka - jakoś łatwiej mi pisać używając tego słowo, polskie tłumaczenie jako poplecznik czy giermek zupełnie mi nie leży), Vasillisa, to kolejny świetny model. Najbardziej podoba mi się ten pusty wyraz na jej drewnianej twarzy, nadaje jej jeszcze bardziej mroczny wygląd. 

Użyłem na nich nieco innego efektu drewna i zastosowałem jaśniejsze kolory niż na MArionetkach. Poza tą drobną różnicą, starałem się utrzymać kolory spójne z resztą ekipy.
