Diablo 3 test

Since it's an open beta weekend I just had to check it out.  I've just tested Diablo 3 and I'm very disappointed. It basically plays like Diablo 2 for dummies. Everything is more colorful, the sounds are silly and the voices are quite poor. Not to mention the animation of the characters and enemies which is bumpy to say the least (the way Demon hunter moves is simply ridiculous) . I actually had more fun playing Torchlight, a low budget Indie game. And I thought that one was simplistic...
Maybe it's just my first impression but I don't think I'll be spending much time on it - painting minis is more fun! Still, if you want, you can give it a shot. Be patient though as the servers are pretty busy and it may take several attempts before you actually manage to log in.

EDIT: I came across this and I couldn't agree more:

I hope that in the final version there will be more advanced graphics options/more filters to activate/deactivate.

  1. I was a bit put of at hearing it's only playable in multiplayer, wth? :P

  2. Many new PC games are like that these days but that's not the main issue for me. The animation of monsters and characters sucks, no possibility of customizing characters (all skills are chosen automatically) , poor voice acting (characters sound like Borat...) etc.

  3. haha, well I wouldn't want Borat in my game.. that's a shame, I mean they've spent quite a bit of time on the game. I'm not so fond of how games just seem to get more and more streamlined for you, no choices to make. My guess is that the skill being set for you is a way of balancing the game too, since it's only multiplayer.

  4. I finished the beta with Monk and played a little more with Wizard before the server crashed again. It gets better later on in the game as you have more skills at your disposal. I also decreased gamma which improved the graphics a lot. Still, I hope that more things are improved before the release of the final version of the game. I was quite bothered by the colorful look of the game and many of the in game sounds but I guess one might get used to these as well...

  5. Haha I love how you decreased the gamma for better graphics! ;)

I've just maxed out the Barb. so might give the Demon Hunter a go next.

Which is your fav. class thus far?

  6. It does look better when it's darker, in previous games from the series you would be able to see only small area surrounding your character, the rest would be complete darkness.

I've completed the beta 3 times so far and my fav char would have to be the Witch Doctor, fun skills and nice look of the dude. How abut you?

  7. Maxed out Barb, Demon Hunter and working on Monk now. My fav. has to be DH followed closely by Monk.
