- keep on updating the blog as often as possible,
100 posts compared to 123 published in 2011 doesn't seem too bad, especially taking into account the fact that Independent Painters has pretty much changed to Independent Painter now that Haldir hardly ever posts anything.
- paint more Malifaux models for my Lady Justice Crew and possibly start another crew (most likely the Dreamer),
Done and done! I added the Austringers, the whole Dead Justice set, Scales of Justice, Executioner, and Guardian.
- play at least one game of Malifaux,
- play at least one game of Malifaux,
Don't really remember how many games I played to be precise but it was something between 5 to eight.
- paint at least 200 miniatures :)
- paint at least 200 miniatures :)
That was the biggest challenge I set for myself and I was actually surprised to find out that the number of miniatures I painted last year amounted to 238. Not too bad I think.
- prevent this little fellow from playing around with the minis I work on (which he seems keen on doing ;)

Well, I managed to do that even though he still tries to snatch a mini once in a while. Maybe he's too busy chasing his buddy now that he's got company :)
Overall, I think it was a pretty good year for hobby as I've kept a solid pace throughout 2012. I even managed to have a few games of Malifaux, mostly during summer. It's hard to point out something that I could specifically refer to as my "painting highlight" but I guess taking part in the Iron Painter at Wyrd website has taught me a lot about managing time and has also forced me to stretch my painting skills to keep up with tough competition. I didn't get far but I continued submitting my entries just for fun (maybe it helped me in winning a $50 random prize ;) .
As far as 2013 is concerned, here are my hobby resolutions:
- paint all the Hobbit stuff and keep on painting ny new Lotr/Hobbit stuff that is released.
- paint two more crews for Malifaux (Dark Debts and the Ortegas) along with my current Malifaux backlog (it amounts to 29 assembled and primed models). I am very tempted to get the Relic hunters crew but I'll try to wait at least until I've painted one more crew.
- play a few more games of Malifaux. I'm not deluding myself and I realize that it's going to be very hard to do that with my current workload and moving house in late spring but still I hope to get a few games at least during my summer holidays.
And that's pretty much all that I can handle. As a bonus option I may add buying and learning to use a Spray Gun but that may be pushing things too far.
Anyway, all the best to everyone in 2013, I hope you're beginning new year with a renewed passion for this great hobby!
I look forward to seeing more of your LOTR & Hobbit stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks Scott. There'll most likely be something from the Hobbit box this month so staty tuned :)
